Voyage into Carré Hermes'
Hermes calls its scarf a carre, a square. A truly magical object, this silk cloth of 90 square centimeters (about 36") transports its wearer to imaginary world inhabited by horses, wild animals, beautiful trees and flowers, people of mysterious lands or even little stubby pencils, clips and buttons in the pocket. Over 1,500 drawings have been produced for Carre Hermes by painters, illustrators, graphic designers, or simply art lovers around the world since the very first one appeared in 1937. "There is a lot of fantasy in a carre, just because it's such a free space", exalts Bali Barret, director of the women's silk department at Hermes.
